Reflection 2014

This year has been exceptionally fun and also crazy because I experienced Sports camp, participated in the Netball and also won the speeches🎵. Heres my memories of 2014.

Sports camp, this is one of the most fun experiences I had because I went to sports camp at Yr 6. It was fun but also busy because we couldn't waste time and had to be at the games on time. We had 7 1st Trophys and 6 Runner ups.

Another time was the Netball tournament, this was the first sport I participated in this year. We won our category for the Yr 6 team and the Yr7 and 8s came Runners up. This was also a fun experience because I enjoyed my time in a sports team.

These are my bestest memories of 2014

Maths e-asttle

easttle report.png

Yesterday I wrote my e-asttle test for my mathematics. It was based on algebra. At the beginning of this term we've been learning and studying algebra for the past 3 weeks. When it was time to write my test I was excited because its been a while since i've done my e-asttle. I found it a tiny bit hard because on 1 question I didn't understand it. At the end of the day my results were a 5B which made me really happy.

Billy Bug

billy bug.png

This games is called Billy Bug. It is based on co-ordinates. You have to press the arrows to get onto the correct space. I got a bit confused but then I got familiar with the concept of the game. I set a high score of 1 minute and 24 seconds. I found it easy because I had the basic knowledge of co-ordinates. I found this game fun and I hope to work with it again in the near future.

Number Sequences

number sequences.png

This game is called Number sequences. The subject of the game is to add or subtract decimals and numbers. I found it hard in the beginning because I really didn't understand the concept of the game until my friend Melissa helped me out. I now find it easy and also helpful in adding and subtracting decimals because its one of the subjects I don't know really well. I hope I can continue with this program and improve a bit more.

Positioning fractions on the number line

Maths fractions.png

This game shows how to position fractions on the number the line. The requirements you need to know to play this game is Improper fractions, Mixed fractions and also the number of fractions on the line. I found this game a bit challenging because It didn't show the lines very well. I would also like a bit more of a challenge to push myself to work harder and achieve all my goals. Next I would like to learn how to position all kinds of fractions but especially improper fractions.

Walt: Play a fractions game.

This is called Fraction game addition. It shows how to compare fractions and add them up. A part was a bit difficult because some of the fruits were covering the one I had shoot. Also it was also easy because you just add the numerators only. My total score was 10. I had a load of fun playing this game and I would also like to learn equivalent fractions next.

Spending Splurge

dice game.png

Yesterday for maths we played a fun game called Spending Splurge. This game is about Financial Literacy. To play this game you need to have at least 2-4 players. I played the game with my friend Camille. The problem is about going on a flight to Australia but I don’t have a passport, and many other things needed to take on the trip. In the game we have $1750 to spend. The things I needed to buy were suitcase or bag, return plane ticket and a passport. When I bought all my essential needs I also bought earplugs, new towel and togs, travel backpack and also an Australian guide book. When I was done spending my money I had a total of $864 left to buy food. In the game I learnt to be always prepared before a situation.

Decimal Fractions

This week for maths class we have been learning about solving decimal fractions. We have learned how to look at the patterns of our problem and splitting numbers to make them smaller so they can be easier to work with. I found it a little hard doing decimal fractions but I still worked through it over the week. What It’ll like to do next is practice at home with my mother so I can improve more.

Rounding Decimals

rouding decimals.png

Walt: Solve problems in multiplication and division that have decimals.

This game is called rounding decimals. I had to round the numbers to the nearest 1 to complete the equation. I am not good at rounding decimals but I gave it my all. I still don't understand how to do decimals so I practice at home.

Comparing Decimals

Walt: Solve problems in multiplication and division that have decimals.

This maths game is called comparing decimals. It challenges you into using <=> symbols in the right order from big to small. And the crocodile always eats the big number first. I found quite a bit of a challenge but I still did it. I got a total of 90% in my first go. What I'll like to learn next is Geometery

Reflections - Basic Facts Assessment

Screenshot 2014-05-14 at 9.37.39 AM.png

Today I got my test results for my mathematics. I did well in  place value, addition, multiplication, subtraction, division,  and also arranging the numbers from big to small. I got a total of 590 in stage 6 which is pretty good. I would like to improve in using symbols correctly and also writing numbers from words. I am going to improve in my mathematics by practicing with my mother in using symbols. Or even download an app to help me learn.
The next time I do my maths test I hope to get at least 100% and if I do I will be very proud.

Maths class

double bar graph.png

Here at Glen Innes school they love eating their fruits, when there fruit box comes. For a couple of days I have been asking the students at Glen Innes school what their favourite fruit is. I asked 50 students (mix of boys and girls) and I got the results. I surveyed the senior and middle school students

The students had to choose between the following fruits here.
The reason why i chose the subject fruits is because there are loads of fruit like starfruit, pomegranate, apricots and dates, but I was really curious about out of all the other fruits, what fruit do they enjoy best.I found it really challenging because I had to ask 50 people out of the school in 2 days. I finally got it finished sparing my morning tea time.

What i would like to do next time is try and survey 100 people out of the school including the teachers.

Dragon Attack

dragon.png

It was a ordinary day, children playing in the park, people feeding the ducks. Just what typical people would do on a Sunday afternoon. Suddenly a scary looking dragon appeared out of no where. Its eyes were flaming red. It had flames as red as blood and wings as green as grass. Everything in its path was wiped out by the ferocious dragon. Its tail was whacking everything at the back of it. It roared and fire came out of its nostrils. Everyone was terrified.

The Dragon breathed fire onto the wooden houses and they burned down in flames causing black smoke to roam around the city. Firefighters, police and even the army were alerted to come down and take the foul beast down.
They shot it with gun powered rockets. Blood started to pour out of his hand causing him to die. To this day, the dragon’s carcass is displayed in the  Auckland Museum.

Six hat thinking

We have been learning about six hat thinking. This is what the different hats mean.
