The Lost Children

Hilda-Rose
The Lost Children

One hot Spring day the Hamilton family were planning to stay the night in the Misty Creek forest In Australia. So they packed their bags and stored them away in the car. The next day John, Bethany and Steven were getting ready to take off.
“ Come on kids your father wants to get a move on ” their mother shouted.
5 minutes later the three of them were ready to go. They hopped in the car and drove off with no care in the world.
“ The drive is going to take three hours “ said Dad.
Two hours later and the kids have gotten so bored that they fell asleep in the car.

Finally they had arrived at the Misty Creek forest. It was very quiet with no sound at all. There was not even a bird chirping in the air. It was getting night therefore
they grabbed their sleeping bags and drifted along to sleep. The next morning their mother got up bright and early and fried some eggs for breakfast.
“ Delicious Mom “ said Steven.
The kids were very bored with nothing to do. They didn't bring anything to play with.
“ Mom can we go for a hike the three of us? “ asked Bethany softly.
“ We'll as long as you come back by four o’clock “
“ Yes! “ shouted Bethany.
They packed some food and water in a bag and also some binoculars.
“ Bye kids be safe “ called out their mother.
There were two roads, one that leaded to the Misty Creek beach and also one that lead to the forest. They went on the forest path. 2 hours later it was 3:00 the kids didn't know where they were. The three of them kept on walking hoping that it would lead them back to the campsite. It was 5:00 and their mother was getting worried.

“ Are you sure the kids are alright? “
“ I'm positive “ replied the father
It was 6:00 and the kids still hadn't come home. So their mum called the police.
The kids were very scared and it was becoming dark too.
It was 7:00 and the kids made themselves a little camp out. They only had a little bit of supplies left. The police saw a sparkling light coming from a mile away.
“ I’ve found the kids “ yelped the police man. He started to run as fast as a Leopard to them  just incase one of them was hurt. The police man rang the parents.
“ We have found your kids! “ He shouted.
He grabbed some towels and wrapped them around them. They were all happy to see

Papas Pear Saga

Papas Pear Saga is a game pears that are shaped like balls and you have to get them in the bucket. When the bucket changes colour that means that you have got it in the bucket. You have to throw your ball in any direction and then watch as the pear grabs bonuses and prizes. When you have completed the level you get extra points.

You have to go threw all the obstacles to get to the bucket.
This game is very fun and I like it.

Conservation

All over the world animals are becoming endangered. That is because people are killing the animals and using them for goods. That means there will come a time where there would be no more animals left in the world and that is where conservation comes in.

Conservation means to protect endangered plant and animal species and their habitats. Among the goals of wildlife conservation is to ensure that nature will be around for future generations to enjoy and to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness lands to human.

Secondly if we don't look after Nature and its wildlife nothing in the world would be alive. Because of that there is a life form. For instance, plants produce the oxygen that we need to breathe. The life of a plant relies on pollen carried by insects and minerals found in animal carcasses. In other words, the earth has many life forms whose lives depend on one another. This is called biodiversity. When an animal or other life form becomes extinct, it breaks its link with other life forms, and threatens our lives as well.

The Giant who needed a bed

WALT: identify expensive words

This story is about a giant who lives in a village. The villagers heard his stomach rumble and then they quickly prepare an bucket full of lemonade and served it to the Giant. They used a hose as a straw. Then it was time for soup. Instead of a soup bowl, they filled a cake mixing bowl with vegetable soup. The cook fetched the biggest ladle he could find in the kitchen. Then they cooked the biggest roast turkey in the village. At the end the villagers make a bed for the giant so he doesn't need to walk all the way home and back to the village. I found this story very entertaining and also fun.

in height and 1 metre in width. The kids love to play with the acorns and throw them at each other even though their not aloud too. The leaves are a beautiful glossy dark green. In Autumn the leaves turn golden brown and they are very crisp. In winter the leaves turn light green but in spring they still look the same. The oak tree is about 68 feet tall. Its branches are spread out which gives the kids nice shade on hot days.

The egyptian sphinx

The egyptian sphinx

A sphinx has a body of a lion crouching down and a head like a human. The head has a nemes on top just like the pharaohs. The head is shaped like the pharaohs that is inside the pyramid. The pyramids were built to keep the pharaohs or kings safe to live in another life. The egyptians believed that the pharaohs could live on forever.

The sphinx were built to protect the pyramid from anyone  who tries to enter. In a myth to enter the sphinx they would tell a riddle and if you were right they would let you enter, but if you were wrong they would kill you and let you suffer a painful death.

Cartoons

I am learning direct speech through cartoons. We had fun doing these cartoons. Next time I hope we can do a story in cartoons.

The Synthesizer

This is a snapshot of my learning in Music. I was learning how to play the Synthesizer.
It was easy because all you had to do was press different keys! The Synthesizer generates wave forms and then subjects them to alteration in intensity, duration, frequency and timbre as selected by the composer or musician. Synthesizers are capable of producing sounds far beyond the range and versatility of conventional musical instruments. It produces electrical sound.

Jump Rope at GI

Weeks ago we have been learning our new skipping routine for this year. We have been doing our music, our positions, the things we are going to do and so much more stuff had to be done. We have been waiting for this very special day to come. That day was when we would go into the GI shopping  center and show our skipping routine to the community. When had to walk to GI. It was a very ugly day. The grey clouds were covering the Sun and it was very windy. When we were walking into the GI centre I saw my uncle there standing next to some tree. He gave me five dollar note to put inside the the bucket to raise some money for the heart foundation. Each class was called up one by one to put their money into the bucket. I dropped my money and the five dollar note flew into the bucket. Mr Naidoo greeted the parents and gave the mike to Britney. Britney introduced Room 1 to come in the centre and show their routine. Next up was my class.
“ And here comes Room 9”.
.Everyone was cheering with joy. The music started and we began to jump. First we did side  to side and then we moved onto the slides and finally we did basic jump. After the basic jump we went into partners and we did front to back and side to side. The music changed and we grabbed the long rope and Melissa and  Asiana started to jump inside. The Music changed and Moko jumped in while the girls were doing double unders. Next Siua jumped in and did some push ups. Mr Ramkolowan was taking pictures and was filming us while we were skipping. After that we grabbed our ropes and made a cross. We jumped threw each rope two times and then we got into our clock and sat down. We waved our hands like an hour hand and a minute hand. And then the music stopped. We held our positions and ran back to our spot. It was really fun and I enjoyed skipping.

The Artist who died

Hilda-Rose
The Artist who died

Boom! as another brick fell upon the great pyramid of Giza. It was mid summer and we were getting ready for the festival. It was the annual celebration to celebrate the beginning of Tutankhamen becoming Pharaoh Tutankhamen. Everybody danced around filled with joy. But not my father. He was holding some programs for people
to come in and have some art lessons. He was the most greatest artist of all throughout Egypt. Every single person in Egypt was fascinated by his art work.

But then the music stopped, everyone was confused and didn't know what was happening. They thought there was going to be a royal announcement. But no they were wrong.
There were people streaming through the gates armed with arrows and shields. The people of egypt were frightened and started to run all over the place. People were screaming and shouting with fear. They got their barrinarrows and started to shoot the people. No one knew why they were doing this. Most of the kids were were hiding in barrels and finding little spots to hide inside.
And then an arrow went straight inside my father. “ Noooo I cried “. and then Tutankhamen was shot. The people started to cry and yell “ What have we done to deserve this “. As soon as they started crying they left.

For days people have been crying for my father the great artist and also for Tutankhamun. But then I said “ I will take my fathers place “ I said proudly. But no one cared they prayed to Amon and moaned. The next day we were getting ready to put the bodys in the tomb but first we had to embalm them. The high priest was getting ready for the embalming. He got his tools and he began. When the high priest was done he stuffed them with cotton and sowed their body up.
Their were ready to put them into their tombs. “ Wait “I shouted. No one has drawn anything on the tomb. “ Thats right said the high priest . No one has prepared the tombs for Tutankhamun and the great Artist” . Everyone was shocked. “He was the only artist in all of Egypt. But who would do the job”. “ I will “. “ Yes he should do it he is really talented and he has got some really good skills”. Called out the lady. So I got ready and I started to decorate the tombs. I was finished and I looked and I said “what a amazing art”. I recon my father is smiling at me right now”. When I got home I was happy that The people loved my artwork and so did I.

Taekwondo

Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a mixed martial art and it is full of fun. At my school a very special lady came in to teach us about taekwondo. I've heard of the name before but never knew what it meant. In the first lesson we sat down on the field and she introduced herself. Her name was Mrs Robinson. She asked if we could stand up and say the oath.
“I shall observe the tenets of Taekwondo.
I shall respect the instructor and seniors.
I shall never misuse Taekwondo.
I shall be a champion of freedom and justice.
I shall build a more peaceful world.”
After the oath we learnt a few punches and one kick.

The next week she told us about the tenets of taekwondo.
They were:
[ Courtesy
[ Integrity
[ Perseverance
[ Self Control
[ Indomitable Spirit

.We practiced the punches that we were taught and the kick.

The following week she talked to us about the belts. There is a white belt, a yellow belt, a green belt, a blue belt, a red belt and a black belt. On that week she taught us how to do a front snap kick. In the last week we had to break a board ourselves. It was really hard but then SNAP the board broke. I was really happy because it was so much fun and I hope Mrs Robinson will come back again.

How toys work

How toys work
Toys can work by a push, a pull, a spin, a press and some toys work by winding them. This toy in the picture works by a press. This toy came from Mcdonalds. It is very old.It can work by pressing the palm tree on top. There is a spring inside that forces the chair to sway back and forth. It is a very fun toy!

Seagulls

Seagulls

One day on the wharf Matthew, Sarah and Rauru were fishing for some food. First they caught some slimy and unsatisfying seaweed. Then they came across some salty weeds which were very sour. They all gave up, they never knew that hunting for their own food was really that hard. But as the the morning mist flew past, right upon their eyes was a tiny little dead tuna floating above the clear blue water. “It’s mine” yelled Matthew. “No its mine” screamed Rauru. Sarah was silent like the night, she didn’t say a word. 1 hour later they were still fighting and then. . .  “GIVE ME THE TUNA” she yelled. The boys were frightened by her voice so they dropped the tuna and took a step back. “Now we’re gonna share it okay”yelled Sarah. “Okay” they sobbed. Sarah divided it into thirds and gave them one piece each. “Mmmm” that was delish Matthew said smiling for more. Lets go home now.

Yacht Sailing

It was a steaming hot day in Auckland city. The sky was clear blue without
a doubt. That day a Glen Innes family couldn't wait to escape from their home and have some fun going to the yacht sailing club in Britomart Auckland . It was free, you could go there anytime.

So they packed their bags and slapped on some sunscreen,  they were slippery like soap. So they drove down to the beach. The beach was packed with people from different parts of Auckland. So they grabbed each others gears and left them inside the club. “I guess they are here to go sailing too”whispered Jack. “Some of them are” said Renee. So they ran inside then grabbed a life jacket each and speeded out with a yacht sailing boat. They already knew how to sail, so they took off as fast as lightning. They headed out to sea. But when they first jumped into the water Jack was gone. No one knew where he was, it was a mystery. They checked every where but he was out of  sight.

But then they spotted a boat far out to sea when they noticed it was Jack! So they hoped in the boat and pulled him in. Everyone was happy and filled with joy, so on they all went home.

Hilda-Rose learns about cogs.

What I learnt about Cogs

Cogs are used in toys.
They are shaped like a circle and have teeth on the outside.

Cogs can be used for movement on any object, like a toy.

So yesterday we made a cog ourselves. We had to buddy up with a partner and I chose my best friend obviously. We were given a piece of cardboard to make our cog. We drew a perfect circle then we drew the teeth and cut out the shape of the cog. It didn't take time to finish our project. We tried them out and they worked perfectly.

Learning how to swim

Learning how to swim

Learning how to swim is very important to everyone in the world, so that is why we have swimming coaches at our school. Every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays Glen Innes aquatic center coaches come to our school and teaches us how to swim. It is so important to learn how to swim because if you're out in the water and panicking you just might drown. Our swimming coaches teach us a lot and I go to all swimming lessons therefore I am very good at swimming. So you should learn how to swim too.
